Full-Time at Travis AFB, CA. working directly with our active-duty

ExtendersDegree/Education: Possess a Baccalaureate degree from a
Physician Assistant Program accredited by the Accreditation Review
Committee for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) of the Commission on
Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program
(CAAHEP)Experience: Possess not less than one (1) year of
experience within the last three (3) years as a full-time Physician
Assistant/Nurse Practitioner.Board Certification: Possess and
maintain current certification as a Physician Assistant from the
National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants
(NCCPA).Licensure/Registration: Possess and maintain a current,
unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant in any
one of the fifty states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth
of Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin IslandsJob duties for
Physician Extenders may include but are not limited to:
- Become familiar with the Military/Medical Treatment Facilities
formulary. Providers authorized to prescribe pharmaceuticals shall
do so according to the availability of drugs listed therein.
- Perform patient history and physical examinations, interpret
laboratory and diagnostic tests, and interpret and correlate
subjective and objective data.
- Formulate working diagnoses and develop a treatment plan for
neurosurgical conditions within the scope of practice of a
physician assistant/nurse practitioner.
- Implement therapeutic interventions for specific conditions as
appropriate. Exercise judgment on conditions requiring
consultation, referral, or evaluation by a neurosurgeon or other
health care professional
- In the ambulatory environment, see office patients and complete
a thorough history and physical examination
- Be available to see patients that require a same-day office
visit.
- Return patient phone calls and ensure appropriate follow
through, as required.
- Review radiographs and laboratory reports for abnormalities to
identify test results that require the physician to contact the
patient. Report normal results to the patient.
- Evaluate and screen patients on their overall neurological
health.
- Record all pertinent information about the patient s medical
and surgical history, care, and treatment in the patient s medical
record according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
requirements for documentation. Documentation must be specific and
accurate to allow professional coding to standards established by
the American Medical Association coding classification systems.At
